The Contest

No, this isn't a reference to the infamous Sienfeld episode (although maybe if we had tried to abstain I wouldn't be pregnant. lol joke people, it's a joke), but rather something fun to participate in.

Paul and I found out we having a little boy- Cue- "Hooray!". We are excited and the kids are thrilled...although we are happy with any healthy baby, boy or girl.
So the cat is out of the bag as to the gender.....but we have decided to keep mum on the name we have chosen....well, almost chosen. I am still on the fence....and I can easily be swayed.

So here's the contest.Who can guess the name we picked? I will give you two clues........

1. The first name is just a name we like...no special meaning. (and if you know us and have listened to paul in the past...you will have a head start on this one)

2. The middle name is a literary reference....one specifically close to Paul's heart.

Here's the prize.....if you guess the name....I will tell you. If you recommend a name I like and end up changing the name to yours...you get bragging rights of naming the baby.

So go ahead...make your predictions......especially you silent stalkers (yes, I am talking to you) it can be even more fun if I don't know the name of the person it's coming from :-)

Ok, so I have no clue what you are naming the lil guy. So happy for all of you! Does Ellen or Kristy know the name? Just kidding. Let me know if you need any boy clothing.

you are not using Madeline (as in L'Engle) for a middle boys name, are you?

Diane Davis said...

my guess for the middle name is Frederick (as in Buechner).

i am going to defer to rebecca's guess for the first name.

I'm thinking, thinking, thinking.

Diane- for someone who doesn't know my husband...you are guessing names that are REALLY close. If it was a girl it would have been Madeline (for L'Engle) and paul loves buechner. That one was a close second!

middle name my vote goes for Grahm, as in Grahm Green but I'll have to give it a little while to think 'bout the first name
;)

sorry spelling correction: Graham Greene

Eh, just to throw it out there b/c I really have no better guesses... First name: David

Here are my guesses:

"James Henri White"
"Randall Soren White"
"William Donald White"
"Timothy Dietrich White"

My favorite:
"Bob C.S. White",
because a kid named B.C.S would have to be a college football player.

Ok, if it's not Frederick, I am agreeing with Andy and guessing the middle name is Henri.

Where is Rebecca in this conversation? I NEED her! :)

It so cool that you're chronicling your journey with Baby X, and sharing them with the rest of us.

If you wouldn't mind, I would like to create your DVD keepsake of the journey ( that is if you haven't already found someone else)?

Pretty amazing that with all these guesses no one has gotten it yet.

Just for the record, I'm all for making it public right here and now, but the wife won't allow it.

And of those submitted, I think I like Bob C.S. (B.C.S) and James August (J.A.W.S) the best. Nice work.

Calvin Lewis White

Oops, posted prematurely.

Calvin Lewis White would be a CLEW within the clues.

I'm coming late to the game, but I'm afraid (sorry Diane!) that I haven't a clue to the first name ... I know that when I hear it I'll have a forehead slapping "Doh!" moment. The names that I haven't seen yet (and I was SURE it would be frederick or soren) are... George? (MacDonald), Gilbert or Keith (G.K. Chesterton), Francis (of Assisi), Thomas or Aquinas, Donald (Miller) ... okay, now i'm just throwing 'em out there. I love being stumped, but I'm terrible living with curiosity.

The Unlikely Pastor's Wife said...

All amazing guesses...and many were highly considered.....and are now being re-considered again (at least in my mind)
I have to admit...JAWS is a good one.

But surprisingly no one has guessed..
Guess we'll just have to wait until Feb!

i think calvin is kinda cute. but what would the nickname be?
charlie is cute too : )
see you sunday...

I have no idea!!!! People have such thoughtful guesses though. Clive or Jack for the middle name? Probably not Jack since that's the Strattons' dog's name . . .

Crap crap crap.

Heidi said...

I love the names Jaden, Cooper and Jack (Jack is my favorite!) :)

Jeff & Jenn Kliewer said...

After lots of thinking here's my guess.....
Jackson Brennan White. Can't wait to find out the name and also meet him when he arrives :>.

How about Wesley Henri White?

Momma Samul said...

I have absolutely no clue, but I am going to take a stab at it. I was looking at the names given already and one
just stood out.

Soren Nicholas. Or Nicholas Soren.

So that is my guess. I guess I can wait 9 more weeks to find out.
